Dear Benefactors,
My name is Aedan Luke Komuji. I was born and raised a Catholic in Sabah, Malaysia, located on the island of Borneo. From a young age, my parents instilled in both me and my sister the importance of constant prayer — when we get up first thing in the morning, in everything we do and before we go to bed at night. They taught me to give thanks to Almighty God in all things. As I grew, I prayed for guidance, asking God what He desired of my life, and gradually realised that He was calling me to serve Him.
My parents’ active involvement in Church life set a strong example of faithful service. Yet I also came to understand that some are called to give themselves entirely to God. For just as in the Gospel, Our Lord sees the multitude in need of His teachings and of healing from their diseases and in witnessing their distress, He had compassion on them as they lay as sheep without a shepherd. And thus, he says to His disciples that, “The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.” — I recognised how deeply these words resonate today. Many in our world remain like sheep without a shepherd, in need of guidance, healing, and truth.
With this conviction, I resolved to dedicate my life to God’s service, to teach and serve in accordance with His will. After time in prayer, silent retreat, and guidance from my spiritual director, I have chosen to enter the seminary under the Institute of the Good Shepherd, a group founded on the charism of the Good Shepherd who gives his life for his sheep. Located in Courtalain, France, here seminarians can receive good quality formation whilst fortified by prayer and silent contemplation as they journey towards the Priesthood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. A formation which unsurprisingly takes 7 years, a sufficient period of time to produce a well-balanced priest in the model of the Good Shepherd.
During this time, I cannot work and must rely entirely on Divine Providence, made manifest through your generosity and prayers. Whether through financial support or prayer, your help sustains me. Please know you will be remembered daily in my prayers, rosaries and at Mass.
Even if you don’t perceive the bountiful fruits of your generosity initially, know that your aid and contribution will have a lasting impact on the honour of God and the salvation of souls. With faith in God, I entrust this journey to Him. Thank you, and may God reward your kindness abundantly!
