LOVE FOR LORI

In 2014, our dearest daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, family member and friend to every single person who she has crossed paths, if for a lifetime or for only a moment, Lori Cooper, heard the words no one ever wants to hear, “It is cancer.”   And so began her journey that brings us here today to so very humbly ask of you for any donation/contribution, large or small, to help Lori with her astronomical medical bills and to make life a little easier for her family of five (seven if you count her two beloved furry friends).

Lori’s Story

For those of you who know Lori, her cancer journey has been so very unique and I have no other word for it than horrific.  It began with a watery eye.   Dry eye was the initial diagnosis, but as her tears continued to flow, she knew something was wrong and then a small cyst-like mass appeared in her lacrimal sac underneath her right eye.  As an extraordinary medical provider, herself, she knew she needed to pursue this mass.  After a multitude of tests, she ultimately heard those awful words, “It is cancer.”   What she, the team of doctors, and no one knew when she underwent surgery to remove that mass that  what was in store for her was a very aggressive and exceptionally rare form of cancer called  adenoid carcinoma.  It was hiding behind the scans and hiding all throughout her sinuses. She came out of that surgery with the removal of her sinuses.  After a brutal daily treatment of close to 50 rounds of radiation and weekly chemo (and very long rides back and forth from her home to Philadelphia), Lori battled like heck and while forever changed, she managed to enjoy life again in her “new normal” state.  That was until round 2 showed up 2 years later in 2016 with more surgery and treatment and visits to distinguished cancer centers around the country.    Round 3 showed up in 2019 with even more surgery and treatment. The head and neck surgeries have been incredibly painful, have had long recoveries, and have left too many residual changes to both her body and her life.  At only 49 years young, Lori was once again diagnosed with cancer less than 6 months of clear scans in 2020 and is currently battling round 4 which has invaded this incredibly strong warrior again.  This downright evil cancer has spread to new areas of her body past her head and neck.  Lori has been in the hospital three times since December and is currently receiving her nourishment through a feeding tube as her cancer and past radiation treatments have made in nearly impossible to enjoy food in any form.   As soon as she is strong enough, she is to begin a very aggressive and new targeted gene therapy.

Throughout this seven year war, Lori has been the bravest, most ferocious warrior you could ever meet.  She is also the kindest, most genuine, most considerate and loving human being you could ever meet.  She worries more about how this is affecting her family and friends than how this disease has attacked her.  Up until very recently, Lori did not let the daily pain and suffering stop her from living and she continued to work and provide care for others.   Her family is her everything, especially her 18 year old twin boys and her 13 your old daughter.  She continues to fight for them.

As she continues to battle, you can imagine the costs associated with this war.  And so, we humbly ask you to make a donation to Lori’s Go Fund Me account to help her to be able to continue to be the warrior she is and fight the fight.  Please keep Lori in your prayers and surround her with your positive thoughts.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for these prayers and thoughts and any contribution you can make to her fund.

With Love and Gratitude,  Team Lori (No One Fights Alone)
