Alex Gianakos aka “Miss G” needs our help!
Alex has been battling an auto immune disease called ulcerative colitis since her diagnoses in 2012. She has had monthly treatments for almost a decade, tried multiple medications with little to no success and has been in and out of hospitals working with different doctors from top rated institutions including the Mayo Clinic.
After tough conversations with her GI team, Alex's only hope is to have the major surgery she has been trying to avoid since she was diagnosed. This week Alex will have surgery to remove her colon. The recovery period for this life altering surgery will be a major challenge and require many hurdles to overcome.
Once Alex is released from the hospital she will have to learn a completely different way of life in regards to her normal routine. Unfortunately, her recovery does not end after surgery, she will undergo one or two more additional surgeries in the months following her initial operation.
Alex has been unable to work yet still had to maintain paying her health insurance out of pocket this past year. All of us who know and care about Alex want to help ease some of the financial burden she will face so she can concentrate on her health and recovery.
