Please help Cashew Cockatoo

The story of cashew and I is long. I got him from a pet store I was volunteering at in third grade (through church). My dad would go to the store often to buy supplies for the animals we had and I fell in love with this bird. We could see he was also very good with me, as I was 8 years old, and cockatoos pick the people they love. Years went by, and together we lived life. At 18 he moved out with me, at 19 I had my son-he was there with me. Then at 25 when I had a major break up & huge heartache in life with a partner- he was there with me. I am now 38. Cashew is approximately 34. About three years ago he started having problems going potty. I took him into the vet and learned he had kidney issues unfortunately. We have always been careful with his diet. I got medicine for him and that helped him with relief but he had many more vets visits to come, the kidney issues had caused his cloaca to prolapse (come out of his body). Back to the vet we went and scheduled plastic surgery with a specialist. We went to meet the specialist and in three appointments had the surgery done. Two years went by and everything was amazing but unfortunately he is prolapsed again. Unfortunately today it was turning purple and losing blood so I had to rush him into the vet this morning and he is spending the weekend there. I had an appointment for April 11 but this was urgent. As a single mom that has raised my son alone for 19 years this has been a financial strain. I have tried to handle everything until now with the resources I have but after a total of over $22,000 in the past few years, I am at a loss. I recently sold my furniture to take him to the vet last visit but I’m not sure how I’m going to pay everything up this time. It’s going to be a weekend of hospitalization, Monday they will see how his nerves and skin condition is and plan surgery again. I recently got diagnosed with metastatic melanoma cancer in the third stage and I have surgery scheduled at the end of April and am doing immune therapy for a year. This is taking a major toll on me. If you can help- even a few dollars it would mean the world to Cashew and I.
