Frank’s Fight
All of us have been affected in some way by the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Arcurio Family is no exception. Frank Arcurio was diagnosed with COVID-19 in November 2020 and was hospitalized within one week of testing positive for COVID. As Frank’s condition worsened, he was admitted to the ICU and placed on a ventilator for weeks to help keep him alive. By the grace of God and so many answered prayers, Frank was able to be weaned off the ventilator but has since suffered from a mild stroke, had to undergo a tracheostomy, feeding tube, as well as many other medical procedures and medications. Frank had multiple hospital readmissions due to complications and infections but continued to fight and work hard with his therapy team and nursing staff at Encompass Rehabilitation facility since his admission in March of 2021. Medical insurances have been depleted for treatment, care, and rehabilitation. Frank and his family have endured so much over the last 9 months, including the loss of Frank’s youngest brother, Michael Arcurio due to COVID-19.
On June 22nd, 2021, Frank was able to return home to his family but continues to have a long road of recovery ahead of him. Frank still suffers from critical illness polyneuropathy, leaving limited mobility and strength in his arms, hands, and legs and is dependent for most care. Frank’s wife, Rose, has taken a leave of absence from work to help Frank recover at home. Medical equipment, nursing care, and therapy services all will continue to be required over these next several months to years to assist Frank with his recovery.
Our hope is to raise money to help alleviate some of the burden that Frank and his family have endured over the past several months and to continue to help maintain Frank at home where he belongs with his family. Frank has been an active member of the Johnstown community his entire life. He has given his time, support, and generosity to many. Frank has experienced so many obstacles and suffering over these last 9 months, but he continues to remain so hopeful and optimistic. He is so thankful for his life, God, family, and friends. We are so appreciative of all of the support and most importantly, we continue to ask for prayers as Frank heals. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
