Hiya, in response to people asking me to make a go fund me to help pay for Cosmo's vet bill after he accidentally ingested recreational drugs on a walk, here it is!
We have kindly been helped with a sum from the Dogs' Trust which has reduced the total we need to pay by over £200 and we are super grateful to them for helping us!

COSMO'S STORY
Cosmo came to us as a pup and has been one of the healthiest, most active and friendliest pups ever. He had just started to go on walks with his big brother Jaxon, and loved exploring new places and smells.
Unfortunately, on his walk on Tuesday, Cosmo, must have eaten some recreational drug or illicit substance from the ground near Addington, and a few hours later started having huge full body seizures and slipping in and out of consciousness. We rushed him to the emergency vet at around 8.30pm on Tuesday evening. The vet told us then that she thought he had accidentally eaten some drugs.
What followed was an absolute nightmare! Cosmo remained unresponsive for many hours, only moving when he had seizures. The vet stayed up with him all night and told us it was the worst case of poisoning she had seen in 30 years of practicing and she was not sure he would survive. He was given medication, fluids and lipids to try to help him but nothing was working.
We stayed up all night and the vet rang again at 6am to tell us Cosmo had had another massive seizure and she thought we may need to consider euthanasia. Cosmo and his brother Jaxon are therapy dogs for my two sons who are autistic - the thought of losing our little pup was something we couldn't imagine!!
Another vet rang us at 12 telling us that we needed to make a decision and the kindest thing would be to put Cosmo to sleep. One of the main reasons was because I am a single mum on state benefits due to my son's disability and the vets knew i could not afford the prolonged care they said Cosmo would need. I could not believe that they would contemplate putting an otherwise healthy puppy to sleep just because of finances!! They agreed to give him until 6pm before they closed and he would have to be euthanised as he still couldn't swallow or respond.
Suddenly he woke up! We were called in and whilst our poor puppy was severely unwell, he managed to wag his tail and lift his head when he saw us. We knew then that euthanasia was not an option and persuaded the vets to keep him overnight instead.
This morning he was much brighter and at 2.30pm we were able to bring him home.
He is still extremely unwell and we do not know the full extent of the neurological damage he may have suffered but he is now eating and drinking water.
We have everything crossed that he will make a full recovery and are grateful to the vets team at Luxstowe for saving his life. Our bill currently stands at £1200 with £280 help from The Dogs' Trust. We know times are hard for everyone, but if you can spare anything to help us pay Cosmo's vets bill we would be eternally grateful
Thanks for reading this and for your love and compassion for our poor little pup!
PLEASE ALSO BE AWARE THAT PEOPLE DO DROP DRUGS ON THE GROUND AND THIS CAN BE FATAL FOR DOGS, ESPECIALLY PUPPIES - I HAD NO IDEA AND NOW WILL BE MUCH MORE CAREFUL!!
