Update***
We have another surgery coming up in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed it will be the last! We have a while before she is waking but so blessed beyond measure to have her here with us! Still working on keeping the infection at bay but that is going well as well. Hopefully only another month of IV antibiotics.
We are still asking for any and all help you can provide us in this difficult time.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Hi, my name is Lindsay and I am here to ask for help for my daughter Holly. Doctor bills, travel, keeping our home, unexpected expenses, etc… She was in a very serious car accident leaving her unable to walk for many months. Holly is my forever princess. She is autistic and had just started her first job. She was life flighted with multiple injuries to both legs. Exposed compound tib/fib, lisfranc fracture, dislocated ankle as well as multiple metatarsal fractures on both feet. It was a miracle she has kept both legs. She has had a rod put in so far and many pins in both feet. There is another surgery coming and without it she won’t be walking. We are looking at 3 months so far with no weight bearing. And lots of rehab.
I am her primary caregiver with the only income coming into the house. Until she gets her strength up and a little more independent I will have to take off work, but still keep her and my other two younger children going Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please keep us all in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
**Update**
First I would like to thank all that have been able to help. We are so appreciative of all the help and support we have received. Thank you.
We have had some set backs. We were out of the hospital for a few weeks but an infection has made it’s way into her knee after getting another surgery needed. We are currently back in the hospital for an indefinite period of time. Originally a rod was put into her leg and that has had to be removed. We have a temporary replacement coated in antibiotics. But we are unsure of when a permanent replacement will be put back in.
Please continue to keep Holly in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
Thank you all to taking the time to read Holly’s story and following her road to recovery and walking once again.
I have another update to provide. After Holly’s last surgery and discovering her infection she has had to undergo yet another surgery and more time in the hospital. This infection is such a rare one and a slow growing bacteria we don’t even have the final cultures. We are hoping that all the wonderful work her doctors are doing and continue to do will keep the infection at bay and eventually kill it off. But this isn’t a quick process. She is looking at about a year of antibiotics and another surgery on her leg once we get the correct antibiotics and have them fully in her system, barring any more emergencies. Not to mention the months of physical therapy to get her legs working again. Her three month no weight bearing has turned into so many more.
As I’ve said, I am a single mom who is Holly’s sole caregiver as well as having two other kids at home. Currently she is unable to even use the restroom or even leave her bed on her own and needs my help in all tasks. We have been denied any home health services and are in need of any help you can provide. Even a meal or groceries is much appreciated. My FMLA time is running out with no end in site for Holly’s full time care.
Thank you all again as we wouldn’t be doing as well as we are without your assistance.
