Most of you know Daddy gave us another {big} scare over Thanksgiving. Thankfully, he was already where he needed to be — with the ICU staff & Dr. Tom Lane. Daddy spent another several days in the hospital. Dr. Broughton was impressed with his miraculous turn around & felt like he was ready to go home.

However, with much prayer & consideration, Daddy left the hospital under hospice care. We are so thankful for everything Hospice of Monroe County has already done for him.
We want to thank each of you for your continued concerns, prayers, & gifts. 2022-2023 has been so hard for Daddy & Mama. We pray for a peaceful holiday season during this new chapter.

While we don’t know what the future holds, we know Who holds the future. — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Another update: Thankfully our prayers have been answered regarding daddy’s next “move”. He is scheduled to transfer to LTAC tomorrow. Please pray for Daddy & Mama as they make this transition to the Long Term Acute Care facility here in the hospital for Ken to finish approximately 30 days (?) more of IV antibiotics. We do not know yet if mama will be able to stay with him or not.PLEASE continue to pray as he heals and for his mind not to be confused. The days are running together after being hospitalized for so long.
Please also ask you to pray for mama, as she is am so tired and weary. She is not able to get much sleep at night here in the hospital, and she just can’t travel every day. Thank you, our faithful friends and family for your love, support, and prayers. We love you so much!

Update: Daddy is currently still at Mobile Infirmary. This will make Day #43. He had his original pacemaker removed & replaced. As of today he had been infection free. Today we found out he has a staph infection. Once daddy is released from Mobile Infirmary he will have to continue antibiotics & rehab. However, his insurance will not cover his several weeks stay at rehab. This will all be out of pocket. We are ready to get him & Mama back to Monroeville but with all the help we can give them!

Many people have reached out to Mama or myself asking how they could help. A little background: in December daddy had accident & things began to snowball from there. He had a partial amputation with his toe which led to below the knee amputation. From there he suffered pneumonia, staph infection, severe UTI, 50 days in rehab care, around 30 days in the hospital {between surgeries}, several ambulance rides, & emergency room visits. This does not include the out of pocket expenses not covered by his insurance.
We are grateful to those that have reached out to us over the last year & shown their love to us in different ways. We pray the rest of 2023 will be an uphill recovery for daddy!

With Love,
Julia
