Kai is a trans and disabled Maryland based visual and performing artist, educator, and activist. If you're active in the DC Burner community, you've seen his Transgender Flag Statement Empowerment project at recent events in DC and Richmond. Kai needs funding for costs associated with receiving gender affirming chest surgery(top surgery).

Kai is scheduled for top surgery at the end of March. Kai relies heavily on gig work and artisan/craft fairs to make a living, the winter months being in the middle of the slow season have made funds really tight. Due to the winter storm Kai is currently unable is to travel with his wagon to sell art and the other artist Kai has relied on for income since 2019 was forced out of his studio and has had issues with permitting in the new space. This leaves Kai essentially unemployed. Kai recently also had his SNAP benefits cut, which further complicates his path to recovery post surgery.

I'm helping Kai raise funds to cover any unforeseen medical bills, personal bills, food needs, and items associated with top surgery recovery. Kai is required to be out of work for 6 weeks, any funds raised will ease any stress Kai has during this time.
