Trumbull CT K-9 Drug Cross-Training

Trumbull Connecticut is a quaint Town in Fairfield County, Connecticut. We who live here enjoy beautiful parks, lakes, hiking trails and easy access to wherever we need to go. The Town has a long, proud history going back before the Revolutionary War.
Everything seems idyllic in our corner of the world, but that is a falsity. Our Town, like almost every other city or town in the United States, has a burgeoning drug problem. In 2015 we have lost 7 residents, each one of them under age 25, to heroin. In 2014 we lost 6 young adults - one of which was my 22 year old son. Since March of 2015 we have had 8 heroin overdoses - all reversed with Narcan - which only became available to our First Responders this March due to the passing of emergency legislature.
Our Police Department has been extremely proactive in addressing the heroin and drug epidemic. They were among the first non-medical First Responders in the State to be certified in the use of Narcan.
To assist our police are two K9 dogs - Cyrus and Storm. Both dogs are trained and certified in search and rescue, apprehension of suspects, and general protection. Trumbull Police know that cross-training Cyrus and Storm in narcotics detection will go a long way in reducing the drug trafficking in our Town, get the dealers off the street and reduce the overdose and death rates. Unfortunately their budget does not provide for this expense.
The cost of training one K-9 is approximately $6,000.00, with additional costs during the next 12 months after training (for field training, advance detection etc.).
An incredibly generous Trumbull resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, is gifting the full cost for the cross-training of one of our K9s, This donation has allowed us to have one K9 start cross-training in two weeks!
As as we have been graced with this good fortune, I would like to raise money to donate to the Trumbull Police Department to enroll the 2nd K9 in the next cross-training session.
Any amount is appreciated, $1, $5, $10...it all adds up, Once the goal is met the funds will be released directly to the Trumbull Police Department via a direct wire transfer from GoFundMe.
