Sudan Emergency Crisis Medical Aid

Donation protected
On 15 April 2023, armed conflict erupted between rival military factions in Sudan. Since then, the crisis has deepened and heavy fighting between factions continues. In the capital city of Khartoum, civilians caught in the crossfire who have suffered serious injury cannot access medical aid, with medicine in desperately short supply and hospitals either destroyed by shelling or occupied by the RSF. Doctors do not have resources or even basic pain relief to treat patients and are lacking a stable environment in which to work. As a result, civilian patients are having to be taken to neighbouring cities to be treated, which can take anywhere up to 5 hours, causing life-threatening delays. Patients in nursing homes and/or requiring treatment for chronic illnesses are dying every day due to a lack of basic medical care needs.

The Al Rahmah Community Development charity in London has set up this fundraiser to invite support from the international community to help raise funds for urgently required medical aid for the people of Sudan. Every penny donated will be securely transferred to our medical team working on the ground in Sudan. The funds will be used to secure medication and supplies from Sudanese pharmaceuticals, as well as from Egypt and neighbouring countries. These include antibiotics, sedatives and anaesthetics, anti-hypertension medication, basic life support medication, and treatment for chronic illnesses such as diabetes and asthma. The funds will also be used for private ambulance rental, as the RSF have hijacked national health facilities: the cost of renting one ambulance for return patient transfer between Khartoum and Merowe is 500,000 SDG (approximately £660), and 300,000 SDG (approx. £397) between Khartoum and Madani/Kamlin/Shendi. Doctors and surgeons are available in these safer zones to start treating patients immediately. The funds will also be used for transportation costs to facilitate the safe passage of medicine across the Egypt-Sudan border via our strong network on the ground.

The team co-ordinating the relief effort between the UK/Europe, Egypt, and Sudan includes Dr Ashraf Eldawi, Mr Mohammed Abosen, Dr Badr Aldin, and Mr Nabil Khalil. The funds donated via this page will be paid directly into the Al Rahmah Community Development registered bank account, and from there be transferred securely via a certified banking app to our Sudan team on the ground headed by Mr Abosen.

We ask you please to give generously to support the Sudanese people, including so many of our friends and family who are suffering at this time.

We pledge that 100% of proceeds will go towards aid in Sudan via our team on the ground.
