Medical Costs For Xiao

Hi y’all, my name is Michelle Zhong, I set up this GoFundMe for my father, Xiao, and I am reaching out for your support. He was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) almost two years ago and his health has recently declined. MDS is defined by the National Cancer Institute as “a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells”, it is also referred to as pre-leukemia. He just got two blood transfusions done, and my family has now gotten the news he will need to receive a bone marrow transplant and undergo chemotherapy.

My father is the most hardworking person I have ever known in my life. He is a nurse and works almost every single day, often picking up shifts and working overtime, rarely taking time off, and even when he does have a day off from work, he spends it doing work around the house. Aside from his strong work ethic, he is amazing at his job. His colleagues look up to him and his patients have told me personally he takes great care of them.

I am unsure what the costs are going to be at this moment, but my goal is to raise money for my dad so that he doesn’t have to work himself so hard to be able to afford medical expenses and my mom won’t have to be as burdened either. They both have worked so hard to give my family the life we have today, and I want to be able to help as we’re unsure how much more time he has with us.
