Erin Dalton suffers from Marfan Syndrome, a genetic condition that affects the body’s connective tissues. On February 1, 2018, Erin suddenly suffered an aortic dissection as a result of her condition. She fortunately reached Lonesome Pine Hospital in time and was rushed to Holston Valley Hospital, where she spent 8 1/2 hours in open heart surgery. Her family and friends were repeatedly told by medical professionals she probably wouldn’t survive.
Erin suffered a series of complications: weeks on life support, strokes, seizures, a blood clot, a trachea, and memory loss among others. Throughout her early healing journey, doctors made clear that any complication could compromise survival. We didn’t know if she had serious brain damage or if she’d ever walk or talk again. But Erin persevered. She’s walking (with a cane) and talking. And now, after four months of hospitalization and rehabilitation, she’s being released on June 5th!
Erin will still need extensive physical therapy and treatment. She lost a ton of weight and needs new clothes. She will need medical supplies and equipment, some of which insurance won’t cover, including new glasses and dental work. This fund is intended to ease the financial burdens as she transitions home. All donations go directly to Erin. Please consider giving.
