On Jan 14, Gabe was on a bike trip in Key West and went to urgent care with flu-like symptoms. He ended up admitted to the hospital and things quickly spiraled out of control.

The director of the ICU at Jackson South Medical Center, who was there from the beginning of Gabe's fight for life, summed it up nicely:

"Gabe, I am so glad to finally meet you. I don't know if you realize how big of a miracle you are. Your kidneys failed, your heart failed, your blood pressure was zero, and your lungs were filled with fluid. You were living at 1%. In this place, we rarely ever get to see someone in your condition return to what I'm seeing as 99.9% in your charts. You have made my day. Miracles like you are the reason I'm staying in this job. Now get out."

We cannot say thank you enough for all the support, encouragement, and PRAYER that all of you have given us. Gabe is alive because of divine intervention and your prayers were a part of that. We are now in the process of getting Gabe to Little Rock, AR where there is a wealth of community support for Gabe and his family. The flight from Miami to Little Rock is not covered by insurance and since so many of you offered to help, we wanted to give you the opportunity to be a part of helping to get Gabe home. We will be able to get Gabe home, but also would love and greatly appreciate partners in this journey.
