Autism Smart Pup for Ned

Donation protected
Hello I would love to tell you a story about our Ned.
Many months ago could even be a year ago, I applied for a smart pup, an assistance pup for specialised service with Autistic children, as guardian/carer for my nephew Ned aged 6 (ASD diagnosed when he was 3). He is completely non verbal relies on sign language and grunts and groans, pecs cards and anything else we can manage to work with him. He attends Sir David Brand school in Perth and they are wonderful. However, I applied, as we all do for everything we could,  to get him as much help as possible. Ned is a runner. He has no sense of danger or fear. He is a ray of sunshine, and will give his kisses and cuddles to anyone that passes in his path. We love him to the end of the earth. He does love a dance and will do that in the middle of the road, or the shopping centre or just wherever he feels the vibe to dance. He also can have some pretty savage meltdowns, and thrash and throw himself around from sheer frustration and anguish. He self harms and bites his own hands to a point where he has hard skin marks. But these are less and less we hope, as we manage to work out how to communicate with him and not give him so much frustration in his life.
Smart pups have contacted us today, and approved us for the Smart pup program and we are so excited. It was a wonderful piece of news, but it was also followed by the rules and set up clauses. We must try and raise a minimum $20,000 donation to smart pups by whatever means necessary, and once we have made this donation, smartpups will raise another $5000 for our puppy will be bought and the training will start. We have been given our donation kit that has been set up to start our fundraising. The sooner we get the donation the sooner our puppy is trained and the smart pup team will head over to Perth from Queensland to settle in the puppy with Ned in our home. They are a fantastic organisation, and the dogs are heroes. This organisation is a non profit organisation and we feel really honoured to have been chosen. We know this is a long way off, and the training of the pups can take 12-15 months from start but its intense and these dogs are incredible. Ned will have himself a best buddy, and a calming influence in his life that will calm him down, settle him when stressed, and guide him through life. Just a wonderful cause. I really wanted you to know about it. My fund raising will begin today. I have today started to post on my personal facebook and take ideas for fund raising. It could be a long road, but worth every part of it in the long run. We have in the first 24 hours had great response and such positive comments and support
Thank you for your donations and messages.  We will do this we will provide Ned with his new best friend and protector.
