On the morning of July 8th a community member got ready for work, kissed his pregnant girlfriend goodbye, got into his car, like he always had, and started to drive to work. As soon as he pulled out onto the pubic road he was swarmed by 6 unmarked cars. He was ordered out of his car, and these agents refused to look at his paperwork. He was trying to show them his immigration papers, and that he was legally here, having done everything exactly as told. These agents refused to look at his paperwork, ordered him to remove his belt, and his hat. They handcuffed him and took him to the detention center in Baldwin, MI.
Since then his pregnant girlfriend has gone back and forth for each visit, 3.5 hours each way, trying to maintain the hope he still has.
He had one court date, where they denied him bond. They ordered other conditions such as a sponsor, but they also denied him bond and set another court date for the 14th of August.
On this court date he could be ordered to pay $12,000 for his release.
Let me remind you he has never committed a crime in his entire life, he came here and did everything he was told to do. If you’re wondering why he was taken, he’s brown, and they were looking for another man who isn’t even around?
“Take him anyways” they said.
And now he faces a $12,000 bill in order to continue life with his future wife and their unborn baby.
If he is denied bond, the money raised will assist his future wife, and their unborn baby relocate to where he gets deported to.
Thank you for your help, your thoughts and your prayers. If nothing else could you please share?
