Helping a Family in Need

Donation protected
Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. (Muslim)

What We’re Doing:
We are raising money to help a New York-based Muslim family* in serious need of financial assistance. The father of the family recently suffered a brain hemorrhage and has been in critical condition for some time. The mother of the family currently spends the majority of her time in the hospital attending to her husband's needs. Neither the mother nor her daughter are in sufficient condition to work right now. Their son is a full-time college student who, between attending school and visiting the hospital, has essentially no available time to work. Without a stable source of income, the family has begun to experience financial hardship in addition to the emotional burdens they continue to endure. They currently have rent, hospital, and utility bills as well as day-to-day living expenses to account for. Their monthly expenses, not including hospital bills, are just over $3,000 right now; this includes the cost of rent ($1,050 per month), utility bills, and everyday living expenses. Our immediate goal is to help this family from now through Ramadan by paying for their rent for the next 3 months and by assisting with the cost of utility bills. To do this, we are looking to fundraise $5,000 for them.  Although our goal is $5,000, we want to emphasize that this family needs all the help they can get. All funds exceeding the goal will go towards everyday living expenses as well as the father’s medical expenses.

Help ease the financial and emotional burden of this family by sharing their story with your family and friends and by donating however much you can, insha'Allah!

The Father’s Health Condition (Detailed):
A few weeks back, the father suffered a brain hemorrhage and has since been in an alarmingly unstable state of health. The hemorrhaging was caused by a blood vessel in the brain which burst, causing the brain to overflow with blood. The excess blood caused an internal pressure on many of his organs. Surgeons were able to remove most of the blood from his brain, but complications didn’t end there. After the surgery in his head, the doctors preformed a subsequent surgery on his throat to ensure that he could breathe properly. Additionally, they had to operate on his stomach so that he could be fed. Soon after the stomach surgery, infections started developing in his stomach, liver, and kidney. The father is receiving antibiotics for the infection, but he likely still has other infections afflicting his organs. He is currently still in the hospital for treatment and is being fed directly into his bloodstream through a drip connected to his arm.

Recent Bills:
These are only a few of the bills that the money raised on this page will go towards. Again, please note the family has asked that neither their names nor pictures be posted publicly. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not share their personal details.
