My best friend’s 15 month old son, Henry, was just diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Henry was climbing on his sister’s bed last week when he fell and hurt his leg. He was favoring his other leg throughout the day with no improvement and, when he started running a fever, Henry’s mother made the decision to take him to the pediatrician to be further evaluated. When he was seen at his doctor’s office, they did a CBC. The results came back with a critically low platelet count and low Hbg. This was when his doctor sent him down to Egleston, where it was discovered that Henry had not only fractured his tibia and fibula, but that he also has Leukemia.
I was absolutely devasted when I heard the news, and couldn’t imagine how I would deal with such news if it were my son. The treatment costs alone are going to be outrageous. That doesn’t include hospitalizations, tests, office visits, etc. I want to raise as much as possible to help pay for what insurance isn’t going to cover for them.
Henry has amazing parents, Bob (Rob, Robert, Robby) and Emily, and two adorable, sweet sisters Avery (6) and Rowan (4).
Bob is one of the best Paramedics out there, and by far one of the nicest, most sincere people you’ll ever meet.
Please, help me help them.
