Hello, I'm GatsbyblueArt. Some of you know me for my animation stories, others by my Helluva fan work. Since October I've been out of work facing rejection after rejection for both industry and casual jobs.

Suddenly 5 days ago my dog Kai struggled to walk and was afraid to go outside. He loves outside but now his tail is always down and he's struggling to go to the bathroom. He's shaking and quivering, staring at me and trying to tell me something is wrong.

I took him to a vet who didn't test him for any other problems other than checking if he had a hip injury. They gave him pain killers but 5 days later he's doing worse, barely eating and drinking. He's not pooping right, his chest looks swollen like none of the prior foods have gone through his system. He's just been shaking endlessly and sleeping.

This is not his normal self, usually he's sprung and ready to go outside or ready to run away from the bath but none of that is showing now. He is 15 years old but he was very healthy. I called his vet again urging them to take it more seriously, they prescribed antibiotics but it would be another day to get the medicine ready and still no testing.

This morning he struggled to pee like he was in pain and he's even worse. I think his vet wasted valuable time so I've taken him to emergency. I told them we've already wasted 5 days not being on antibiotics so if we start now whose to say he's going to survive if it's not an infection. They agreed and gave me an estimate of the vet costs for the next 24 hours, $3000 - $4000 CAD.

They will do a blood panel, ultrasound and any extra testing to find out what's wrong with him. They've let me know things can also go wrong as well being his age he might not survive being put under for the ultrasound.

I know something is wrong with my baby, he's never been like this even during rougher years. He doesn't want to eat his favorite foods or go outside which is his all time favorite activity. I've had him since he was a baby, my parents have his parents and his mom went through a traumatic death this year because of careless vets.

Everything I do, I do to make sure I pay for his needs first before my own. He gets food first, he gets the good fresh baked yams and popsicles. All the doggy puzzles filled with chicken snacks because he's too clever for just one. He's a smart boy that will manipulate you into thinking no one has given him a meal or to put more snacks into his level 1 puzzles because he only wants to do the easy ones.

Any help will be greatly appreciated during this rough time.

I just want him to be okay.
