In response to overwhelming requests following the story aired on CBS 2 Chicago, this page was set up to help assist Willard with paying off the nursing home debt of his late wife, attorney's fees, and taxes. 

My dad is 93 years old and a WWII Veteran. My mom fought a 6-year battle with Cortical Basal Degeneration, including an 18 month stay at a facility in Glenview, IL, before Dad brought her home to finally pass in 2016.  Dad essentially depleted his retirement savings to pay the facility more than half of what was charged for her stay, then entered into a payment agreement for the rest. My dad struggled with providing care for Mom along with his own increasing care needs. He would miss a payment when he had a “bad” month, but he sent many more payments than he missed. 

The facility's legal counsel sued my dad and obtained a judgment for the entire balance owed plus their fees and interest. They have been unwilling to negotiate any sensible payment plan to satisfy the judgement that considers his limited income and advanced age. Willard has never denied his responsibility for this debt. He has always tried to pay them as best he could. They have demanded a lump sum payment, or are threatening to foreclose on his home. How could anyone even threaten to foreclose on a 93-year-old WWII veteran's home, in which he has lived for 45 years?

Please help my dad live out his remaining years with dignity in the home he worked so hard to provide and maintain. No senior should have to choose between his own immediate and increasing care needs and paying off the debt for the care of a deceased spouse.
