Help Tanya get back on her feet

Hi everyone,

I am Tanya's twin sister, Shereen. Tanya really needs our help right now. Recently, Tanya experienced serious complications from an infection, which entered her bloodstream and then entered her spine. She is currently in the care of the doctors, nurses, and social workers at the QE2 hospital in Halifax, NS, and the extent of the damage and potential for recovery are still unknown. Currently, Tanya is experiencing paralysis (partial to complete) in most of her body below her neck and she will need both immediate and long-term financial support. Currently, Tanya is not able to work and cannot cover her immediate financial responsibilities such as rent, bills, and support for her dog, Bali. Long term needs are still unknown because her expected level of recovery is still unknown. Tanya may need support for rehab or she may need expensive equipment like a personal motorized vehicle and fully accessible living arrangements. Regardless of the extent of her recovery, it is unlikely she will be able to work in the near future.

We are hoping to collect funds that will be used to first cover the financial burdens Tanya cannot in the immediate future, but as we better understand the extent of her recovery, we will have a better sense of her needs.

At one point in your life, I am sure that Tanya has been there for you. I sincerely hope you can be here for her right now, when she needs us all the most.
