Open Heart Surgery

My name is Lisa. I own a salon called Beyond Beauty in South Jordan, Utah. 

I have had the privilege of working with a wonderful stylist McKenzy Giampapa for the last year.  McKenzy is a 33-year-old single mother of 4, she is a very hard worker, and she always shows up and works hard with a smile on her face!

In 2013 McKenzy had her first heart surgery to repair some holes in her heart. A medical device was implanted in her chest to help her heart restore normal functions. A month after that surgery McKenzy had a stroke and had to go through major rehabilitation to be able to regain use of her left arm and hand. She still suffers from pain down into her left leg 

This past year McKenzy has been suffering symptoms of heart failure again.  Through major testing, it was discovered that she is allergic to the metals used in the original implanted medical device.

McKenzy needs to have emergency open heart surgery called Right Anterior Thoracotomy on January 7, 2021 to remove and repair the damages the device has caused.  She will have to stay in the ICU for 3 days, then move to the regular hospital until she is well enough to be discharged.  The first two weeks after going home are critical for her recovery.  McKenzy, if all goes well, will be able to return to work slowly after 8 weeks.

Hairstylist’s only make money if they are not standing behind their clients.  Especially after COVID 2020, there is no savings for McKenzy to rely on. 
If you can donate any amount, you will be helping McKenzy to recover without the stress of not knowing where her livelihood will come from until she is feeling better. I would like to be able to help her with coverage for her rent or through dinners that could help take care of her kids needs. 

If McKenzy doesn’t have the surgery she will go into full heart failure in less than 5 years.  Please help me support a great mom, good friend, and one of the kindest humans I know.
