My mom’s medical journey.

Hello, my name is Sofia. My mom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a rare T cell cancer, in 2012. She’s been in remission for the past 12 years and we recently found a mass in the same area she originally had cancer. I have taken on the role of being her patient advocate- transportation to her appointments, picking up her medication, scheduling appointments for her, and cleaning her house.
UPDATE 12/09/24: I am currently using this fundraiser to pay off financial expenses from our recent trip to UCLA. My mom had emergency surgery to remove a mass that started growing inside her cheek over a month in a half ago. It took away her ability to speak properly and affected her everyday life.
My mom recently had a PET scan in the beginning of June and a mass was found in the same area that she had cancer in 2012. We are trying to find answers through doctor’s appointments about what the mass could be. We are currently seeing doctors in UCLA for treatment who are familiar with her case. My mom is scheduled to come back on the 30th to have a biopsy taken to see what it could be.
I’m helping her financially through this and finally bringing my guard down and asking for help. This would go towards getting a hotel for us to stay while she comes down for doctor’s appointments, transportation, food for us, and copays. I never ask for help and realize that I cannot keep doing this alone. Thank you.
