My name is Carolyn Huerta. I am a close friend of the family. As many of you may know, last Sunday, March 13th, Evan was walking back to his hotel in New Orleans and was attacked, beaten and robbed. He was reported missing and the 311 community came together with full efforts to find him. His parents, siblings, loved ones and friends were terrified because no one knew why he never made it back to his hotel room within the 20 minutes or so since he had called them. The hotel was only a short walk away . It was 6 and a half grouling hours before he was found, severely beaten and unconscious. Evan required medical treatment at the local hospital. He had an X-Ray, CT scan, tetanus shot and more while he was in the emergency room. He is now with his beloved family, home and recovering from this nightmare. The goal amount is set at this particular number because Evan does not have medical coverage. His dental bills alone are climbing past $6000.00 (4 teeth were knocked out) and he has a broken nose and a possible tear in his rotator cuff that may need surgical repair as well. We don't even know what the cost of the Emergency Room bill will be just yet!! 

I am asking that we all come together to help Evan and his family out in their time of need. I believe in the kindness of strangers, but we aren't strangers. We are a family, a community. Evan does so much for people, let's do something in return for him. Any, and I mean ANY amount is greatly appreciated. $1, $5, $20 ... Anything will help right now. No one deserves to go through something like this. As a familia, let's please rally together and help one of our own. Every dime donated will go directly to Evan and his family.
