The Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sharon, and I'm reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for your support for my husband, Eric. For those who know Eric, you know him as a man of incredible strength, someone who has always been independent, capable, and the first to lend a hand. Today, he is facing the greatest challenge of his life. Eric is bravely living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that has systematically taken away his physical independence.

The Journey So Far
The journey began in early 2024 with what we thought was just mild weakness in his arms and hands. After months of grueling medical testing, specialists, and uncertainty, our fears were confirmed: Eric was officially diagnosed with ALS and Neuropathy in October 2025. We have tried various treatments to slow the progression, including a six-month course of intensive infusions four days a month. Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to stop those treatments as they weren't providing the help Eric needs. Since then, the decline has continued, and the tasks most people take for granted have become impossible for him.

Eric now requires assistance with:
-Basic Care: Dressing, eating, and bathing. -Daily Tasks: He can no longer hold a cup or carry items; every drink must be taken through a straw. -Medical Management: He struggles even to open his own medication bottles.

The Urgent Need for Home Safety
As the weakness has spread to Eric's legs, our home has become a landscape of risks. While we are incredibly grateful to the ALS Network in Hawaii for providing us with essential medical equipment like shower chairs, our current bathroom setup is no longer safe. Our most urgent priority is installing a walk-in shower. Even with a shower chair, maneuvering into a traditional tub is becoming dangerous. A walk-in shower is a vital necessity that would significantly reduce the risk of falls and allow Eric to maintain his dignity and hygiene in a safe environment. Because his leg weakness is progressing quickly, the need for this installation has become an emergency.

How You Can Help

The financial weight of ALS is heavy, and while local networks help with equipment, the cost of major home modifications and ongoing medical bills remains our responsibility. We are seeking to raise funds to cover: -The professional installation of a walk-in shower to make our bathroom handicap-accessible. -Essential medical expenses and specialized care costs not covered by insurance. -Home safety adjustments to ensure Eric can navigate our house as his mobility changes.

Every donation no matter the size goes directly toward easing this burden. It allows us to focus on what truly matters: Eric's quality of life, his safety, and the time we have together.

Other Ways to Support Us
If you are unable to donate at this time, please know that your support still means the world to us. You can help Eric by: -Sharing this link with your community and social networks. -Keeping Eric in your thoughts and prayers.

Watching a strong man face such a relentless disease is heartbreaking, but the kindness of others gives us the strength to keep going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with Eric.

With deep gratitude,
Sharon
