Support for Sweet Sheila Young and Family
Donation protected
Hello Friends (especially my McFamily),
This is the first time I’ve done a GoFundMe, and I’m launching this campaign because one of the sweetest people in the world needs our help.
Sheila Young, a former administrative assistant at McDonald’s of many years, and the doggone best baker of yummy treats, is in extreme, immediate need of financial support due to medical hardship.
Sheila’s daughter Marva (who lives with her) suffered a massive stroke in May due to blockage in her coradid artery. Unfortunately, her surgeon also discovered a blood clot at the base of her brain. She was still in emergency surgery at midnight when she turned 49 years old. When she awoke from a medical induced coma, Marva was unable to move her right side, see, hear, breathe on her own or swallow. A feeding tube was inserted to sustain her nutritionally.
Though progress has been steady it is not as fast as they would like. She was released from the rehab center and is now feeding herself, reading and forming comprehensive phrases.
****Here’s why they need our help:****
Marva is still wheelchair-bound. Sheila just had *major* surgery herself and cannot lift, clean or care for Marva by herself. They need financial support to hire caregivers for both of them. Insurance has run out and they have been denied public assistance.
Before the stroke, Marva was an avid reader who wrote short stories and poetry. One of her college professors described her as “a lover of words”. Every day, Sheila reminds her that with hard work and perseverance she will talk and walk again. Let’s help get care in place for both of them to make that vision a reality!
Please take a moment to give whatever you can!
Thanks,
Heidi Barker
