This August 2015, my sister was diagnosed with breast and lymph node cancer.  Having had my mother travel this same path has been a blow. The doctors estimate that the medical treatment plan will span a minimum of a year. It includes Chemotherapy, Surgery and Radiation therapy.  Prior to the diagnosis my sister was working in a nursing home, but is now unable to continue in this high movement field.  Due to the great physical strain from these treatments, most days it takes all her strength just to make it around the apartment, due to the great physical toll her body is taking from these treatments, 

Currently, her savings is drained and total financial support is now left to her 20-year-old son. He is attempting to meet the overwhelming emotional and financial challenges of being her caretaker as well as the sole financial provider for their household.  This bright young man, has left school in order to care for his mother.  This is an emotional as well as a physical battle. The strain of not just being sick, having an inability to meet even the basic of necessities is overwhelming to the both of them.

As I have stated before, we as a family have been down this road before.  Suffering many loses in a five period to this disease, including my mother with whom my sister had been a primary caregiver.  My sister has been helping people in the community and our family her entire life. Now, it is her struggle. I know her goal is to fight through this and come out on the other side stronger and in full health.

I am reaching out to enlist the support of family, friends and the Go-Fund-Me community to alleviate some stress of being unable to meet financial expenses of the most basic needs for; food, shelter, transportation, personal care, and unexpected expenses. I know I am doing all I can, but we also need the support of others.
