She is scheduled for major surgery on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 which will last 10 hours. They will remove the cancer from her tongue, take lymph nodes on both sides of her neck and then do reconstruction of her tongue with a skin graph and vein from her forearm. She will have to stay at U of M for a minimum of a week. She will return home when the doctors feel she is able, but will not be able to eat for three weeks by mouth. There is a lot of pain she will endure and a lot of care will be needed.
Her husband, her and other family own Flint Chair and Stool and they are self employed. They do have insurance, but they have a $6,000 deductible and they will have to have someone work in her stead while she is not able to. There will be the costs of commuting for her and her family, as well as various other costs.
They are very strong and have great faith in God that he is looking over them in their time of need. I am hoping that we as friends and family can help them also in this time of need. We will all have times in our lives when we need to lean on others and I know when my time comes, Sue and her husband, Tom, will be the first in line to help me.
If you would like to help in any amount monetarily, it would be very much appreciated. Sue and Tom have received many wishes and words of encouragement and they are very greatful. If you just are not able to help at this time, please say a prayer for Sue during this time in her life.
