Help Ian Stay in the UK After Losing His Job Unfairly
Hi, my name is Ian, and I’m a 28-year-old Kenyan immigrant living in the UK.
I first came to the UK in 2016 to study Marketing at the University of Kent, where I graduated in 2019. After finishing my degree, I chose a life of service — I spent three years living as a monk for a charity, dedicating my time to community work, mindfulness, and helping others find peace and purpose.
In late 2022, I began a new chapter working as a Community Development Officer for a trust that sponsored my Skilled Worker visa. I poured my heart into that role — combining my marketing background and passion for people to make a real difference in the community specifically for the youth of today.
But after I spoke up about unfair treatment and false claims within the organization, things took a painful turn. Instead of being heard, I was pressured to sign an agreement meant to silence me. Standing by my integrity came at a high price — I lost my job, my visa sponsorship, and my financial stability.
Now, I’m doing everything I can to stay in the UK, the place that’s been my home for nearly a decade. I’ve been offered a new sponsorship, but this time, I have to cover all the visa and application costs myself — while also keeping up with my rent and living expenses.
After being here for over nine years, I’m finally eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) — a major milestone that would allow me to truly settle. But without help to bridge this critical moment, all that progress could be lost.
