Help Rebuild Angie & Michael’s Home After Devastating Fire
Our beloved neighbors, Angie and Michael, have lost everything in a tragic house fire. Their home, a place filled with love, history, and decades of memories, was reduced to ashes—leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
This was more than a house—it was a legacy. Michael has lived there for 50 years, a home passed down from his family, who made him promise never to sell it. It stood as a cornerstone of DC’s Trinidad, a historically Black neighborhood that has welcomed generations of families.
But now, it’s gone. And they had no insurance to rebuild. The home had been paid off for years, but unfortunately, as we saw with the LA fires, homes like theirs are difficult to insure.
If you’ve ever met Angie, you know she’s the heartbeat of this neighborhood. For 25 years, she’s been the first to welcome new neighbors, the first to lend a helping hand, and the first to remind us what community truly means.
Even as she battles dementia, Angie’s spirit remains bright. She’s spent years caring for others—now it’s our turn to care for her.
Angie and Michael have been navigating the heartbreaking challenges of Angie’s dementia—and this fire has only made things worse. Losing her home has left Angie deeply traumatized. The stability she relied on is gone, and is causing her tremendous pain.
Their daughter, Mickeyla, is doing everything she can, but with no family support nearby and limited resources, they need urgent help.
This tragedy has taken everything from them. But together, we can help rebuild their lives.
Your donation will go toward:
✅ Temporary housing while they figure out what’s next
✅ Basic necessities—clothing, food, and daily essentials
✅ Medical care & caregiving support for Angie
✅ Long-term rebuilding efforts so they can return home
Angie and Michael have spent a lifetime giving to others—whether through community work, church, or simply being there for a neighbor in need. Now, they need us.
Please donate whatever you can. Every dollar brings them one step closer to stability. If you can’t give, please share their story. Let’s show Angie and Michael that the love they’ve given this community will come back to them when they need it most.
Let’s come together as a neighborhood, as a community, and as a family.
Thank you for your generosity, love, and support. ❤️
