Dialysis Unit at Hope Welfare Hospital

We are raising money on behalf of Hope Welfare Trust, a UK registered charity operating in Azad Kashmir since 2015. They have built a state of the art hospital (Hope Welfare Trust Hospital) in the village of Prahi (District Kotli), where they have been providing much-needed services free of charge to the poor and needy since 2018.

The charity aims to provide renal services for patients who require dialysis treatment. Renal (Kidney) failure is a big problem globally, and the difficulty in Azad Kashmir is that there are very few renal services in the area that provide these services for free for the less fortunate. The cost of dialysis per patient in Pakistan is approximately £3,000 per year which is about eight times the average annual per capita income. Facilities in the rural areas are almost non-existent leading to patients from such areas being referred late leading to further and more complicated health issues.

Therefore, people from these regions travel many hours to get to places such as Dadyal and Mirpur to get free dialysis treatment. This is a much-needed service that many renal patients will benefit from.

A lot of us would have had lost ones who have suffered from renal health problems and have seen the effects of this first hand. Therefore, we can understand the importance of having a dialysis unit nearby for people who would struggle to even pay for their transport to get the treatment in other districts of Azad Kashmir.

This service will be provided entirely free of charge for the poor and the needy people of Azad Kashmir. The whole set-up will cost approximately £25,000, and this will include three dialysis machines, their installation, the staff training, etc.
