Please help Kathy Reed kick Cancer!

I am Michelle Reed, Kathy Reed's daughter-in-law. I started a CaringBridge and a Facebook group called Kathy’s Ovarian Cancer Journey and a GoFundMe for my mother-in-law, Kathy Reed. She is a 75 year-old woman of God who loves her family and friends and the love of her life, Denny. Steve and I received a call and spoke with doctors that we never wanted to receive - Kathy has what appears to be ovarian cancer CA-125 of 2000 while in the hospital in Henderson NV. We knew we had to act fast and get her to on a plane and to Cleveland Clinic and did so within 3 days.

Mom arrived here March 10th and we met her Oncologist March 11, 2025. Within 2 days she had her port installed and a plan was put in place and all family was told Chemo would start March 28th. March 17th Steve took her to the ER and in Cleveland and she was admitted in ICU immediately for the next week followed by another week on the oncology floor where she had her 1st chemo treatment March 31, 2025 on her 75th birthday!

We have learned this cancer is Ovarian Cancer 4A that has metastasized to her lungs, omentum, lining of her stomach, lining of her colon, nodules on her spleen, lining of her uterus, and adrenal glands among a few other places in the abdomen. We have asked all of the questions to be asked, had the hard conversations that needed to be had, and she has decided to fight this God awful disease in her body and she is determined to ring that bell in the end!

This GoFundME is NOT about charity, it about duty and standing by one of our own when she needs us the most. As a community we step up when our family is hurting.

Every dollar raised will go towards all of Kathy's care and wellbeing as she has a very long road to recovery and overcoming this cancer. Steve Denny and myself are asking you for support to help us provide every and all things she needs. We have applied for a Medicaid supplement as she had in Las Vegas but so far has not been approved so all co-pays, deductibles on her new insurance that began April 1st in Ohio, as well as her oxygen equipment, hospital bed, rollator walker and her oxygen concentrator, lung draining equipment - Moms lungs needed drained as she had duel drains on both lungs that we need to drain every 2 days and supplies are 550.00 per month for our out of pocket and copays on 21 medications a month If you are able to help your generosity will help with the above and also below.

So far we have been able to purchase a scooter for Mom from a buy sell trade site that was almost brand new, a lift chair, all new jammies 7 pair soft and oversized as she is very swollen throughout her abdomen, ALOT of grippy socks and she is on 21 medications a month with 20 percent copay so please know every dollar is going to good use and at this point we have not received a hospital bill yet but it has all been billed and 1.1 million dollars which included her 1st round of chemo and week stay in the ICU and week on the oncology floor, she will be billed 20 percent if we cannot get medicaid to help.

Steve and I live in a split level home, we are looking at getting a chair lift installed to get her in and out as she is almost unable even with her constant o2 to make it up 18 steps even with a landing in the middle. We have spoken with agencies trying to get help esp for that!
