In November, 2016, my mother Alison Fuchs went to the emergency room with chest pain and shortness of breath. She came out the next day feeling better, but not knowing what was the cause of her sickness. After many visits to the doctor’s office, a few more ER visits and a lot of tests, she was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in December. The doctors found the tumor in her colon had spread into some of the surrounding lymph nodes and the intestinal wall. As you can imagine, we were all devastated by this news and began to consider the future and the next steps to be taken.

Alison is the mother of 10 children, 8 daughters-in-law’s, and soon to be 23 grandchildren. Only recently, in October of 2014, did Alison’s husband of 39 years pass away from a stroke after she had cared for him for many years while he was on disability due to his health problems. Alison is the example of true selflessness. She is one of the strongest, kindest and most generous people you will ever meet. She has done so much for others in her life asking nothing in return. It isn’t often she finds herself in need, but this is something she cannot and should not face on her own.

Sense her diagnosis in December, she has had 27 radiation treatments along with chemo therapy to reduce the size of the tumor before they can operate to remove the tumor and possibly her entire colon in April. Alison has been extremely positive throughout her treatments and has done very well. She will continue to have chemo treatments after the surgery and will be unable to work for the next several months as she goes through the treatments needed to remove the cancer from her body.

Because of how her insurance is setup, she has a very high deductible, will only be able to receive a portion of her pay from long term disability and will have at least one entire month without pay. She has also had many medical expenses with all she’s gone through and will have much more from the treatments she has yet to receive.

She has enough to worry about without trying to figure out how to pay for all her medical bills, so we are trying to raise enough money to pay for her medical expenses and her living expenses while she is undergoing treatment and unable to work. This is a small token of love that we can show for such an incredible individual who has done so much for others. Please help us support her through this trying time in her life by donating. Thank you all for your love and support of Alison!
