Hi, thank you for visiting this page. My name is Marlena and I hope to help my best friend and her family during this incredibly difficult time in their lives. Jessica's husband, Anthony, was moved to hospice care today. They are really in need during this extremely difficult time.
Right before tragedy struck
Over the summer of 2025, Anthony was on the verge of a life-changing career transition. He invested months of effort into securing a better future for his family; that opportunity was within reach, and then everything changed. Instead of celebrating a new job and the incredible opportunities it promised, he went to the hospital to find out why he was in so much pain.
What happened
At the end of July 2025, doctors admitted Anthony to the hospital for his stomach pain. Unfortunately, what they found required an extended hospital stay. After months of multiple setbacks—surgeries, infections, and facility transfers—he was recently diagnosed with terminal liver disease. Because of his complex medical history, he is not a candidate for a transplant. Over the last six months, his family hoped he could come home again and now they are facing the most earthshattering pain, that he will not return.
About Anthony
Before he became ill, Anthony lived loudly and loved deeply. He was a fiercely loyal husband, brother, father, and friend who worked hard to protect and celebrate his family. He made ordinary moments feel special—holidays, birthdays, and simple get-togethers were always memorable when he was there. He loved golf, backyard BBQs and crayfish boils, giving haircuts to the boys, and driving his Tesla with a proud smirk. Even now, he routinely asks about his children and calls Jessica for short, loving check-ins; he continues to put his family first.
Why the Baca family needs assistance
Jessica has held everything together for the last 6 months. She is now the sole provider and the family’s income has dropped substantially since July. While she has begun receiving long-term disability benefits, those payments fall far short of the household’s usual income. Jessica has managed admirably so far, but she cannot shoulder the mounting costs ahead alone.
We are raising funds to cover immediate and concrete needs, including medical and hospice care, household expenses (rent, utilities, groceries), travel and time off so the family can be together without losing more income, end-of-life arrangements and funeral costs, and short-term stability for the children while Jessica reorganizes work and care.
How you can help
If you can give, please donate whatever feels right. If you cannot give, please share this page and hold the Baca family in your thoughts and prayers. We are humbled and deeply grateful for every act of kindness, every share, and every prayer.
We commit to transparency and regular updates so you can see how your support helps the family immediately. Thank you for helping carry Jessica, Anthony, and the children through one of the hardest times they will ever face. Your support means more than words can say.
