This is my daughter Samantha. I have raised Samantha as a single parent who has struggled financially her entire life. Samantha is a very hard working, highly self motivated, selfless young woman who has chosen the career path of becoming a registered nurse. Because she worked hard in high school and obtained exceptional grades, she received a generous academic scholarship to the university she attends. It was not however a full scholarship. The first two years we were able to obtain student loans to cover the remaining parts of her uncovered tuition. This academic year we were not but through putting in long hours working nearly full time while attending school on a full time basis, we both paid out of pocket monthly payments to the school to cover the unfinanced portion of her tuition.
Sadly, on the evening of December 7th, 2015, Samantha was seriously injured in automobile accident while returning to school. This particular evening was two days before final exams were scheduled. She was hit by a driver running a red light while both were traveling at 40 mph. Her car was totaled and Samantha required surgery to repair her broken arm and sustained mulitple injuries that have put her out of work and she will be for several more weeks. Through the turmoil and the pain she was suffering through, Samantha rescheduled her final exams and did very well. This is type of tenacity she possesses.
Although Sam has a medical insurance policy, her deductible is over $6,000 and this will need to be paid out of pocket. In addition, we have recieved her spring semester tuition bill and we have both realized that with her out of work and with the out of pocket expenses we have had for her medical bills and medication and probably physical therapy she will require, there is a likliehood she will not be able to return to the second semester of her junior year.
This is why I am reaching out on Samantha's behalf. Samantha has poised herself to obtain a higher education. She could have become anything she desired but the career path she chose was so she could help others, show them compassion and comfort them in their time of need.
Please help me to help Samantha relieve the fears of not being able to complete her education. Becoming a nurse means everything to her. At this time we cannot even afford the text books she needs to start her second semester or pay the unfinanced part of her tution. Any and all amounts would be appreciated more than you could know. And our family would be grateful beyond words.
Please feel free to share this with your family and friends. We need all the help we can get. The next semester starts in less than three weeks. One day Sam could be the compassionate caring nurse that a friend or loved one could need at their bedside with your help.
