Remembering Zoe Degraag

Zoe Degraag’s body was discovered on Saturday 12th December 2015 two weeks after she went missing in the early hours of Saturday 28th November 2015. It is believed that Zoe took her own life but this is still under full investigation.

Our beautiful Zoe aged 23 had battled depression for many years. There were two very different sides to her life. In one breath she was a happy, fun loving, creative, outgoing, sociable, supportive and very caring individual. A great mother, friend, partner and sister. Zoe would give you anything and go without that is how kind and considerate she was.

On the other hand when going through her dark times she was very sad, thought very little of herself and struggled to cope with day to day life without harming herself.

Zoe never understood how amazing she was and we all feel we could have done more to help her but the truth is Zoe could not see for herself how special she was and this is the hardest thing for her loved ones she has left behind.

As we all know to take your own life you have to be in a real state of despair feeling there is no other way out of the pain and suffering and takes some guts to complete.

Zoe is survived by her beautiful daughter Shyah aged 4, brothers, sisters, mother, cousins, many friends and carers who have supported her during her short life.

We want to give Zoe the send-off she truly deserves and we are campaigning to raise funds for her funeral and if we hit our target we would also like to set up a trust fund for her daughter to access when she reaches adult hood.

One of Zoe’s wishes were to have a horse and cart, her specific words were “I want a horse and cart, but it must be black horses with a white feather it can’t be a black feather it must be white” we want to make Zoe’s wish come true.

We will be holding a fundraiser night on Friday 8th January 2016 in a bid to raise more funds. We understand it is the Christmas period, we appreciate every effort and no amount is too small!!

Thank you in advance

Nadine Reid (previous carer for Zoe)
