Sam is a hairstylist at Tamar Dupre Salon in Safety Harbor where she pursues her passion and performs hair miracles for her clients daily. She is part of the close-knit salon family and always learning and pushing herself to grow as a stylist and colorist. Her smile brightens up any room she is in and when she laughs, you can’t help but laugh along with her. She works hard to help, mentor and uplift the teens and young adults in her community, all while struggling with her health over the last year or two.
That struggle became very real on Tuesday June 1st. Sam had TIA “mini” strokes before and became accustomed to stopping them, this day, she could not. Her symptoms became insurmountable, and it became obvious that she needed emergency medical attention. Sam was taken to the hospital where she spent her 22nd birthday and was discharged 4 days later. Her speech is slowed, her brain is taking longer than normal to help her find words to communicate, and she can no longer walk unassisted. She has months of physical and speech therapy ahead and will not be able to drive for 6 months. Not being stable enough to do her job, she will be out of work until she gets strong enough to stand and move on her feet for hours on end.
She has such a fierce spirit and determination, and she was convinced she would be back at work the day she was discharged, but the reality is she needs time to heal and grow stronger and she will be struggling financially to pay for the therapy and medical help she needs to heal until she is able to get back to work. We want to help ease the financial burden that she faces so she can do the hard work of healing.
