Hi - my name is Heather and I’m raising money for my friend Kelly and her family. Kelly is currently in the hospital recovering from sepsis - thankfully she’s going a make a full recovery, which is the good news.

The bad news is her recovery will be long, and she has a young, disabled child at home.

Kelly was initially misdiagnosed with shingles and, as a result, ended up near death two days ago. It's something of a miracle that she's alive.

Her daughter, Daisy, who is 4 and loves music, has severe developmental delays resulting in multiple physical and intellectual disabilities — among other things, she doesn’t speak and can’t walk without assistance. Arranging for all of Daisy’s therapies and schooling and other needs and caring for her after school is very hard, all-consuming work, and Kelly won’t be able to do it on her own for some time. Her partner, Richard, works full-time. Kelly will need to hire skilled professional help both to take care of Daisy, and also to help Kelly through her own recovery.

Kelly has already incurred $5,000 in out-of-pocket expenses for hospitalization and will need more ongoing medical care in the weeks and months to come.
