Fight with Joe!
Donation protected
On March 1st my Dad, Joe Mikos experienced a stroke resulting in a severe brain bleed. He has been and will continue to be in the Surgical ICU for numerous days, and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. From the very first day, Dad was given some pretty big odds to beat. His neurologist warned my family and I of how truly severe his bleed was, and how little faith he had in Dad's recovery. Thankfully, we have been able to witness more recovery than what was ever anticipated. With that, we know he has been fighting his hardest, but unfortunately, his fight has really just begun. If there's anything I ask it's just that you please pray for a swift and strong recovery. So that he may regain his strength and come back home.
If you know my Dad at all you would immediately know that he is a very independent and headstrong kind of guy. You might also know my Dad as being the best father, son, friend, and overall the hardest worker I know. He has always done his best to take care of himself and is a pretty active person. So as you can imagine, this was not only a shock to my family but also has been really hard for him. My Dad has done many many things throughout his life, all of which I've been blessed with endless stories about. He was a scuba diver instructor in Florida, traveled with the band Flock of Seagulls, worked countless different jobs, was in the Navy, traveled to many countries, and made the best of friends along the way. Through those stories, I was taught numerous life lessons. Some of which are funnier than others, but most of which I will never forget. My Dad has experienced much more in life than so many will ever get to, and he has become so intelligent and strong through it all. I'll never be able to thank him enough for all the things he's done for me through thick and thin but I hope this is a good start.
We all know my Dad is a fighter, but he's now facing one of his toughest battles yet. If you truly know him, you know that he doesn't like asking for help, and if you know me at all you know he passed that trait down to me. Unfortunately, we both need to set our pride aside this time. The truth is, hospital stays are incredibly costly and it can be quite overwhelming. This is the last thing I want my dad to worry about at this time. Of course, there's only so much I can do, but believe me when I say I'm putting my best foot forward. If you can support him in any way, it would be greatly appreciated by us all.
All donations will be directly given to my Dad to help pay for expenses relating to this medical emergency.
Your contributions and prayers make a world of difference. Thank you in advance for your support.
