Happy Holidays to you all! I need your urgent help.
My son, Antoine Snelgro, has been arrested and is in the Sacramento County Jail for a crime he did not commit. He was assigned a public defender who seems to be working against him, and not for him. As we all know, the public defender system is overwhelmed, and they do not have the time to put forth their best effort on cases. We want to prevent putting another Black male in jail. Especially one who is innocent.
With that being said, we need a defense attorney that will fight for Antoine. An attorney that will listen and do the work to prove his innocence. Unfortunately, in order to attain this attorney, there are costs involved. An attorney will require a retainer up-front, which is something that we do not have. This is where you all come in. I am asking all of you to help in establishing a fund so we can retain an attorney.
Antoine is a giving man with a kind heart. He graduated from Balboa High School, where he was the All-City quarterback and inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2014. From there, he continued his journey with sports by playing football at San Franciso City College. He also played basketball for Delta College in Stockton. He furthered his education by attending Texas Southern University, a Black college. While there he earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and was chosen to be the homecoming king. He then attended Phoenix University and obtained his master’s degree in special education.
Antoine has always given back to the community. In the early 2000’s, he started his first non-profit organization, Saving our Babies. He also returned to Balboa High School and coached sports (basketball, football, and baseball). He taught in the Sacramento School District. He was a past member of the Omega Boys Club. He continually serves as a mentor to the youth to ascertain they have a better future. Moreover, Antoine is a veteran. He served in the United States Army. He has never been arrested and has never had a criminal record.
I know right now is a difficult time to ask for help during the holidays. Any amount is helpful. We do not want Antoine to be wrongfully convicted due to lack of quality attorney representation to prove his innocence. We do not want to dim Antoine’s bright light to continue to serve the community. He has so much more to give. As a great grandson of the late Ms. Elouise Westbrook, a Black American housing rights and activist in San Francisco, we ask that we all help one another in our time of need.
I thank you all in advance for any help you can provide. May God continue to bless you all.
One Proud Mom,
Marian Snelgro
