The last couple of years have been... rough. For those of you who aren't caught up, here's a brief summary:
In was in school for Echocardiography. I left school before my fourth (and final) semester because I was unable to, physically, complete the exam. As if that wasn't devastating enough, my aunt disowned me for not being able to finish school and, daya later, my emotional support animal died of cancer. This sparked some substantial PTSD.
I was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia and severe carpal tunnel in both hands. While this explained my, physical, inability to perform ultrasound examinations, it was a pretty devastating diagnosis, as a performer.
I spent the next couple of years trying different medications (some that made my memory so bad I thought about giving up theater, permanently) and here we are. I have fairly constant "flares" that make my body feel like a big bruise and my skin painful to touch. Extreme temperatures are tiring. My appetite is terrible. I've learned how to manage it and take care of myself in order to minimize flares, but there's only so much you can do.
In this time, I started doing (independent contractor) home-delivery "gigs". These were wonderful, at first, as they were flexible, paid well, and had great availability. However, in the last couple of years, these jobs are no longer viable. The pay rates have gone down, the price of gas has gone up and I've lost money this year while "working".
THE GOOD NEWS! I just started a new job managing my friend's new Airbnb location! I'm so excited for this venture to become profitable but it needs a moment to take off.
MORE GOOD NEWS! I'm doing a (paying) theater contract at the end of July so that will cover my rent for August. Yes, my rent is very low. Lol.
THE BAD NEWS. I'm so behind on my bills right noe that I'm about to lose my:
- Cat food and litter: $100
- Phone: $225 (due 6/28)
- Car Insurance: $140 (due...now)
- Rent: $580 ($460 for July + $120 I still owe from June)
- Car Inspection: ?? I'm not expecting it to be much. (Due 6/30)
So I'm looking at, around, $1200 to get back on my feet, be able to work, and still have a roof over my head.
Any amount is, greatly, appreciated and, if you're unable to give, thank you for reading this. It was, extremely, difficult to ask my friends and loved ones for help so, the fact that you got this far means a lot to me. ❤
