Dive Into Music

We are Music Factory: Community and to raise funds to kickstart our charity which will provide free music lessons for people who might not have the opportunity otherwise, Sarah, our most fearless volunteer will be doing a sponsored skydive!

We have been working with the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team who have been bringing students to us who have had at least one experience of psychosis. The young people are keen to continue learning music but unfortunately the finance isn’t there at this time and so we have been thinking of ways to fund their lessons. In our ‘brainstorming’ sessions, it became clear to us, that so many more people could benefit from having a creative outlet to express themselves and so Music Factory: Community was born.

We are hoping to raise money to carry on our community outreach program. We believe that the more instruments we can get into the hands of young people and adults, the better. As well as providing free one-to-one music lessons to people and groups in the community, we will also be running workshops where people can learn together. Our ‘Dive into Music’ workshop is a hands on, immersive musical experience where we set up different instrument stations with a dedicated, experienced tutor at the helm. People can visit these stations at their leisure and have tutor led lessons where they learn a song, beat or riff, learn to read drum scores or tab and have a really positive musical experience. Our ethos is that the more people we can engage with in this way, the more chances of people pursuing the study of an instrument and having more musicians in the world can’t be a bad thing.
