Fogle Family

August 29, 2019 was a day that changed their lives FOREVER!  Quenton Fogle....husband and father of 3 little ones!!

On August 22nd, Quenton went to the Dr. for what he thought was a viral infection.

On August 29th, they took him to the hospital because he wasn't getting any better.  The viral infection may have caused a mild heart attack.  The did a CT scan and it showed he had pneumonia and an abscess in his throat.  His sugar levels were very high at the time, so they weren't able to start treatment for him right away.  The next day his blood sugars were back to normal, but the abscess was leaking into his blood stream.  They did surgery to remove the abscess and then gave him antibiotics to treat the blood.

On August 31st, Quenton was having trouble breathing and his heart rate was up, so they had to intubate him.  They put a camera down Quenton's throat that night and saw another laceration on the opposite side of the surgery.  The also did another CT scan and saw that he has fluid in his chest.  They need to do surgery again, but this hospital couldn't handle the severity of it, so he was transferred to York Hospital.  They also had to do a central line through his groin for his blood pressure.

September 1st they did the surgery and found the source of the bacteria.....A CRACKED TOOTH!  The ENT Dr. went in and got dead tissue out of his neck, the cardio dr. went in and drained the fluid from his chest and the dental dr. went in and pulled his tooth.  The cardio thorasic dr. got about 1-2 liters of fluid out of the right side of his chest.
Throughout all of this, they have had to do several surgeries to clean out dead tissue.

September 6th they had to do another surgery, but this time they had to open his chest up completely to clean out all of the dead tissue.  He has 3 tubes out of his chest on the right side, 1 tube out of the left and 2 tubes in the middle of his chest....so a total of 6 tubes in his chest to drain out all of the fluids.  The chest is still open with a film over it so they can easily go in and clean out any dead tissue they find instead of having to "open him up" each time.  He also went into sepsis shock!

September 9th was his 5th surgery to clean out all of the dead tissue.

September 22nd all of the chest tubes have been removed.

September 23rd they were unable to get him off of the oxygen, so they had to give him a trache in his neck.  If they left him intubated, that could damage his through from it being in there for so long.
September 26th he can't feel his bottom half from the waist down.  They will send him down for an MRI to see why.  The MRI showed an adema in the spinal cord which is a build up of fluid that blocked the blood flow to the cord to the lower half of the body.  The neurologist believes that Quenton will never regain movement or feeling.  AT THIS POINT, QUENTON DOESN'T KNOW THIS.  The dr. will be letting him know gradually.  The dr. said that it might have been something that was already started due to his diabetes and the infection just sped things up.

Unfortunately because of all of this, the Fogle family needs to look for a handicapped accessible home and vehicle.  So not only does Felicia (the wife) have to raise 3  young children (5, 6 & 9), work a full time job, visit Quenton at the hospital....now she has to look for a new house and vehicle as well.

Any help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you!
