On Wednesday May 8th 2019 my husband Matt and my life changed forever. Matt. A very skilled tree climber of 10+ years was a passenger in a 26,000 lb bucket truck. Him and the crew pull into a Sunoco gas station in Naugatuck, CT. Matt went inside the Sunoco and on his way out the driver of the bucket truck (and also the foreman of the crew) decided it would be funny to play a "joke" on Matt. The "joke" was driving up to Matt from behind and bumping him with the nose of this big bucket truck. As he bumped Matt, he fell to the ground and instead of stopping once Matt fell, he decided to continue to bump Matt instead of stopping the truck which resulted in him running over Matt's foot and ankle and then stopping on top of him. The split second decision nearly cost Matt to lose his foot. Matt was taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Luckily the doctors there were able to save Matt's foot...for now. There is still a BIG chance that Matt could still lose his foot. One thing that has no chance is Matt's career as a tree climber. Matt will never climb again. Now he has to start life all over again. Learn a new skill to provide for his family again once he is healed. (Will take up to a year.for him to walk with no kind of assistance) before this horrible ordeal happened Matt was the definition of a mans man. He woke up everyday before the sun was up and came home well after dark to provide for me and his stepson Jj. Matt truly enjoyed his work and the feeling of accomplishment it gave him. He was the sole provider for our family and without his income, the chances of us losing more than a career is very high. Without Matt working, I make just enough to pay our rent but no money left for food, gas for me to get to work and the hospital, medical bills, food and litter for our cats, car insurance, utilities, ect...It is not in our nature to ask for charity but we are desperate. We dont want to lose more than we have. If anyone could find it in your hearts to donate anything you can. It would not go unnoticed. Even 1$ would help greatly. I appreciate all of you taking the time to listen to Matt's story. Thank you all so much for any help that you can give.
