My name is Adrienne, Holly Minnear’s aunt. I am writing this on behalf of Holly because she would never ask for herself, but she needs help right now. Holly has so many incredible friends and close relationships and many of you already know that she has been in the ICU for 9 days. She is making small improvements and her road to recovery, while positive, will be a long one.
Holly is being treated for 2 viral infections that look and act similarly: Guillian-Barre Syndrome and Transverse Myelitis. Both attack your nervous system and, if left unchecked, are life-threatening. She has excruciating pain that comes and goes and this will likely be with her as her nerves repair themselves. Once she leaves ICU she will continue to work with physical therapy to regain a bit more strength before moving to a rehab facility. It’s too early to know how long she will be there. It could be weeks or months, but the doctors believe she has every reason to believe that she will be able to return to the life she loves so much.
Here’s where your help is so needed. Holly will need to be able to bridge the financial gap with regular home expenses (home rent, utilities), medical expenses and extended childcare until she is able to resume her regular schedule. If you can contribute even the smallest amount, it will help to eliminate this burden and allow her to concentrate on her healing process.
Holly and her three beautiful children mean the world to me and if I was able to cover all her expenses, I would do it in a heartbeat. Having Holly resume being the active, loving mother, gifted hairstylist and devoted friend to so many, is all I want.
I want to thank everyone who has been there for Holly during this past week. So many of you have come to visit bringing gifts, so much love, and healing energy. She is truly humbled by the outpouring of support.
