Friends of Shawn and Kristina Woods seek support as he battles
Advanced stage oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Shawn was diagnosed in December 2018. At that time the doctors felt positive that the cancer was caught early.
In February 2019 he had a 16 hour surgery. They removed 60% of his lower left jaw. Bone was also removed from his leg
to reconstruct his jaw. This was followed by radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
Shawn is a self employed carpenter / contractor. He has been unable to work since December .
He is a small business, and takes on most jobs on his own, Therefore he has no crew
of employees to keep any income rolling in.
He had a very long recovery from this surgery. He was finally beginning to feel better,
and ready to start lining up the jobs. Then this September during a follow up scan the doctors
found a new spot in the jaw bone. This same cancer has become very aggressive .
The doctors now give Shawn a 25% chance to beat this .
He will be getting radiation treatments for 7 weeks along with Immunotherapy.
If this is not successful, as a last resort they will perform another surgery .
This time the surgery will leave his face deformed and unable to open his mouth.
Shawn realistically could be out of work for another year or longer.
Shawn has been living a very happy ,great life with his Love Kristina,
and 3 young children ages 4, 6, and 7 .
Shawn vows to fight this as long as it takes until he wins
for Kristina and his kids . He needs our help along the way. They have lost
all grip of bills and expenses. There will be so many other expenses to come over next year for them.
