our apartment flooded

Hello, my name is Ryan! I've decided to start a fund to cover some of the losses from the flood and potentially having to stay at a hotel throughout the repairs.

Just a few days ago on December 25th a pipe burst in our apartment attic, due to a lack of insulation or heating in the attic. It flooded the entirety of our living and dining room, and partially seeped into the kitchen. It reached the 2 floors below us as well by the time the fire department came to shut off the water.

There are a total of 5 of us living here, and 2 of us have filed claims with the renters insurance we have. It isn't guaranteed they will cover the whole of our property damage, or the bill for the multiple nights at hotels some of us may have to stay during the next 2 weeks while repairs and construction are done. Our apartment management is not currently agreeing to provide us with any rent discount or back rent credit for the time we are literally not able to inhabit our home.

The total for the property damage is 2k and we do expect to have some of that covered. I've set the goal for 2k incase they deny our claims, but also if they do approve our claim we still need money for lodging coming up this week as our home will not be habitable while repairs are being made. If anything changes, I'll adjust the goal when necessary!
