I started this fundraiser to help the family members of Michael Smith, who was tragically killed on January 24, 2023. Michael was walking along the shoulder of I-95 in Lantana, Florida when two cars collided on the road and one of them veered onto the shoulder and killed him instantly. He leaves behind a young son, Orion, who turned 7 the day after his father died. Michael was Orion's custodial parent and they lived with Michael's older sister. She needs financial assistance with funeral and burial arrangements, and to provide for Orion's continued care, as well as legal costs involved in getting custody of Orion so she can provide him with the stability he needs at this time.
