Help Meredith Beat Cancer

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and supporters,

My name is Meredith, I’m 27. I am a preschool teacher and I love what I do in the child development field. When I’m not working, I love to cook, bake, make art, and play with my tattoo machine. I am a dog mom to my handsome boy, Benji.
Unfortunately, I am currently not working. But, I am trying to pick back up on my hobbies when I can. I picked up on botany; I guess I’m a plant mom now too.

As you can tell by the title: I have stage 4 colon cancer metastasized to liver. I was diagnosed May 30th and that’s when my life changed completely.

The whole summer of 2023, I went through surgery (ileostomy - meaning I poop in a bag), hard recovery (I had an infection due to my tumor rupturing and had to stay longer in the hospital), followed by another procedure after my hospital stay (to get a port for chemotherapy to access my body) and my first time doing chemotherapy (July 3rd). Chemotherapy has been tough on my body that makes me to be very tired and endure scary symptoms that cause me to go to the emergency room 2-4 times a month. Don’t worry, I was well taken care of at the hospital. My doctor gives me hydration infusions to help alleviate some symptoms. Therefore, I go to the infusion every week. During my chemotherapy sessions, it takes me up to three days to finish chemotherapy. I carry a fanny pack and a home infusion nurse comes to my house and disconnects me. I can go on about what I do and the process on my cancer journey but maybe I’ll save that story for another time. Or feel free to ask me! :)

6 months months have now passed and I’m already reaching my 12th chemotherapy. Therefore, I have three more rounds to go by January 2nd and getting a rescan on the December 29th. I know that I will still be undergoing therapy after and hopefully in the future, I will have a reversal surgery where I get my intestines connected back together and I no longer have to poop in a bag anymore!!

To shed some light, chemotherapy is definitely working. I thank God everyday for another day of life. This summer has been my toughest time and having to close a chapter in my story, thinking it was my last.. I am beyond grateful and so proud of myself to be able to move forward despite everything I have gone through. I have gained more than what I’ve lost. As to this new current chapter, we are feeling good and thriving! There are days where I feel like I have nothing more than when I feel “something.” I am strong and brave! God didn’t give me this challenge to break me, He is in control, building my faith, my strength, mind, and spirit. And God gave me community and surrounded me with love from friends, family, and supporters I haven’t even met!

I cannot have made it this far without each and every one of you but this fight isn’t over, yet! I can really use support available with medical expenses, groceries, rent, and vitamins/medication and not to mention, emergency room visits.
Deep in my heart, I know and feel, that I’m going to see a victory Here is how you can help me and my family:

Thank you.
