Help Save Achilles

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ashley Bankowski & I’m an LVT at a local animal hospital. This sweet boy is Achilles. He was surrendered to my work at the beginning of June. Achilles wasn’t given a very fair start to life and has fallen in the wrong hands multiple times. I have spoken with multiple bull terrier rescues, including the one he was adopted from, and they are all unable to take him. The shelters are already overcrowded but I also know that he would not have the best odds in a shelter. Due to his animal reactivity, I feel he has the best chance at the life he deserves if I can get him in to a board and train program. These programs cost several thousand dollars. I will do anything and everything I can to save this sweet boy but I can’t do it alone. I have been told multiple times that he is facing euthanasia if I can’t find a placement or start paying for boarding.

Achilles’ history is a little cloudy but since being with us he has been a big love bug. Achilles’ first owner had him from a puppy but found themselves in a situation where they could no longer care for him. He ended up at a shelter and later in the hands of a bull terrier rescue. He was adopted out in to a home that is now known to have been unfit for him. We do know that he bit a woman while walking at his apartment complex with his previous owner. We believe his triggers weren’t respected and he was routinely placed in unsafe situations. Achilles has been in our care since June and with his foster mom from July until the end of September. His foster was unable to keep him because her daughter developed an allergy to Achilles. We have seen zero signs of aggression at the hospital or with the foster. He does react to other animals so that will need to be worked on. He loves his rubber toys, treats, cuddling, rolling in the grass, and being a big goofball. He knows sit, down, and paw and is house/kennel trained. He was an absolute angel when I gave him a bath and loves rubs and cuddling with his people.

Achilles has been around children as young as five (and did great) while with his foster but supervision is a must, as with all pets. He has been an absolute love bug. He does not deserve to be euthanized or given up on. He deserves respect and a chance at a life with someone who loves him for his silly self.

I love this boy and want to find someone who loves him just as much. I’ve been told I either have to find placement, pay for his boarding, or euthanize him (which I refuse to let happen) so I am running on borrowed time. I absolutely hate asking for help but I feel the board and train will give Achilles the best chance at a forever home.
